RELIGION: A LIBERAL APPOROACH

It is quite a difficult job to find the exact origin of any religion. But what any scholar can possibly do is to predict. In this modern world, where one finds almost a fully developed sense of religion and its features, where man keeps difference and distinction between his own neighbors in terms of religion, it is better to think of the need of religion or purpose of religion in the society.

All through the different centuries, religion was dealt in different ways by the society. If one society has made use of magic, then other society may have made use of politics in religion. With the increase in need, religion and its elements were burdened with more responsibilities, so as to satisfy humans. Today, look into any religion and one can find that religion always stands higher than its own deity. In the name of deity, it is religion that is praised, it is religion that is economically enriched, and it is religion that is theologically “brain-washing” the society.

Can Human Live Without Religion? 

The society was never alone. It always was under an indirect influence from the religion. By the way, man always was in reverence for his own religion. If religion is comprised of what one believes and belongs to then even atheism and Marxism are religions. The difference is that each ideal hold their own theme as “gods” to which they give importance just like any religious person gives to their ‘God’ or “gods”. Thus, human could never separate themselves from religion and nor will they be able to do that.

Religion And Fear factor:

A close look into one’s own religion will show oneself that it was brought into existence from “nothingness”. The basic assumption for its origin could be the ‘fear of dead’. In an age where humans did not know the meaning of life and death (?), it was natural for them to get shocked by their near and dear ones lying dead at their feet. One can just imagine the plight of a murderer who is always on dream of revenge from the victim. From then on the man who dreamt of catching a prey dreamt of revenge from the other.  Fear has always been at the basic level of any religion. Fear of dead and salvation from it might have provoked man to design new ways to get redeemed from any kind of destruction to their physical body as well as mental health. The evolutionary process beginning from fairy tales, tribal songs, and prayers formed the basic system for primary religion. Religion was always under the intensity of evolution and one can still feel the changes in religion according to the trend.

Play Over Human Psychology....

Religion was in fact, taking advantage over the psychology of humans. The species which always like to yield to any new ideas would be humans.  They were under a trance when religion gave them hope of prosperity in this world, introduction of good and bad, norms and taboos, salvation and safe existence of soul(?) in afterlife. Man cannot imagine of a particular time when he won’t be existing any longer, where his identity is vanished forever i.e., when he dies. There, religion took it as their major gateway to delve into any society’s heart, because almost every religion talks of soul and salvation (?), which even one person in their earth is not assured off!

Another basic element would have been black magic and other treatments to cure patients. There was a time when even simple healings were miracles. Thus, magicians/doctors became godly people. They became intermediates between human and the ‘super-natural’. This element of ‘future-hope’ + ‘fear’ (which still exists) is what religion is.

There is no possibility that man would live without any religion. Humans always need religion. Humans are dreamers and they would simply like to get hopes and hear of its fulfillment. Humans are needy, in fact they are greedy. And all that humans want could be fulfilled only by religion or they will themselves find its fulfillment in religion, as they do presently, in the modern-day religion known as “Science”. Unless religion is in collaboration with science, it can’t be successful in these days. But this religion has something more to give and science could only stop religion or grows more than it, only when it can invent “pills” for “resurrection of souls”!!!
